Always felt real safe at Bobo's shows. You knew Oakland or SFPD wasn't gonna mess with you inside the venue. You could freak freely without worry. Nothing like an $8 dollar Winterland show. Money was certainly important to BG, but he didn't blatantly rip us off. I remember when the Stones went with a different promoter/sponser (Labatt's?) for a tour for the first time since the 69 tour--Bill was mighty miffed. He was quoted as saying something like, "for a measly million dollars?" they had the nerve to go with somebody else. And what do Stones tickets cost now? Talk about a ripoff...
